I loved this book! If you are looking for an old Southern romance story you have found it! The story was captivating from the beginning. Clay was the perfect "hero". His transformation was written so perfectly. The romance between Clay and Andrea was written even better. This book was packed full of all the things you are looking for in a good read - romance and a lot of mystery - all of which is revealed at a perfect pace throughout the story. What a wonderful book! I cannot wait to read more book by this author! This book was my first experience with yhr historical romance genre. Because of this amazing read I will be continuing to read more of this type of book!
Had a great time reading the story of Clay and Andrea and solving the mystery(s) - of course now have to find out what happens to Catherine and Adam.
Not a Gone with the Wind wanna be. This story has all the elements - romance, intrigue, good writing. Description says it's over 400 pages, so I hesitated because I'm not one to typically read the type of book that implies. It was actually a very fast read, with a well-developed plot and not a lot of extraneous side stories or unnecessary details.
Loved this book. Could hardly put it down. Can't wait to read more like this.

Great story. A little slow in places, but not so much I felt the need to skim. HEA.
Not the typical setting for historical romance. The author did a terrific job of including history of pre-Civil War south. I enjoyed this book immensely for the many strong characters, the sub-plots and the love that grew between Andrea and Clay. It was refreshing to see an independent, not-overbearing heroine and the love between her and her parents. It was hard to put down.
How do you protect your best friend, and marry the man of your dreams? A hero to a six year old girl can't "really" be who she thinks she'll end up marrying, can he? This story surprised me in that the usual "Southern" lady restraints aren't used. A woman with a brain in her head helping her lawyer father with research? That'd usually be frowned upon. This book is fresh, entertaining and makes you think there really is hope for anyone's true love to come along. Excellent.
